In the high altitude, there is a small-structure-but-indispensable component-the Slip Ring like "important rotating nerve center" with the role for stable transmission the power, all kinds of the sensor data as well as the control signals of the angle-change information. Owing to the fact that the motor is regularly running under the harsh environment like strong vibration, extreme temperature and amounts of powder, the regular maintenance for the Slip Ring will regularly affect the overall stable operation for the motor.
Why the Slip Ring should be carefully maintained?
In the process of the motor operation, a continuous physical friction will be generated between the Slip Ring and the Carbon Brush. And, that friction will not only lead to mechanic wear but also generate amounts of carbon powder. If these carbon power, oil mist and moisture are mixed, the conductive electrolemma will be easily formed on the surface of the Slip Ring, leading to insulation reduction and even the communication flash or short circuit or burn. Meanwhile, the followings, including spring fatigue, contact inefficiency or cooling path jamming will cause the increasement of abnormal temperature and speed up its aging. Therefore, regular maintenance will prolong the service life of the Slip Ring and reduce the cost of its downtime.
A scientific maintenance of the Slip Ring generally includes the following core steps:
First, safe outage and environment cleaning
Before maintenance, the operator should ensure the motor in the condition of outage and brake. Use multimeter to confirm voltage. Clean surrounding clutter of the Slip Ring Chamber for the purpose of the fact that the dust will not fall off the clutter.
Second, deep cleaning and dedusting
Use industrial vacuum or compressed air to clean the carbon powder and dirty of the Slip Ring clutter. For stubborn stain of the slide, use non-fibrous soft cloth to dip with the special anhydrous ethanol or Slip Ring cleaning agent for the purpose of complete cleaning. Avoid to use coarse abrasive material for the purpose of destroying its gloss agent of the slip ring surface.
Third, inspect and replace the brush.
Carefully inspect the wear of the carbon brush. If one third of original height is wore, the carbon brush should be replaced with factory model. Avoid mix material. And ensure conjoint ratio between the new one and the slip ring can reach above 80 percent. Meanwhile, the operator should inspect whether the spring pressure of the brush is attenuated for the purpose of avoiding electric sparking caused by insufficient pressure.
Four, a scientific lubrication and assembly
After cleaning, the operator should uniformly smear or spray specified slip ring lubricating oil on the slide with suitable oil quantity for each slider. Finally, inspect the condition of the sealed component. After confirmation, torque of the bolt should be qualified and marked. Then, the operator should put it back to the clutter.
Though the slip ring is small, it will affect the overall power efficiency. With regular maintenance and smart monitoring, the slip ring can guarantee a solid safety line for the motor.
